After the murder of her father, Electra, daughter of Agamemnon and Clytemnestra, took her little brother Orestes to a place of safety. She stayed in Mycenae and was despised and put to shame by her mother. When Orestes had come of age, she persuaded him to kill their mother in revenge for their father.
