These last years after preparing my journey to Indonesia my sensual two-dimensional dioramas are beginning to tell another story; one alluding to slavery and injustice – no longer can we say ‘The Golden Age’ without thinking of the suffering of those who worked to make Dutch merchants so self-satisfied and wealthy. Despite their vivid colours, these are scenes of derelict dreams, and sullied memories.
