Dreams

Police Station

This dreamproject sees all ceilings of police stations show her work. Preferably all stations, but if Margriet were to choose, definitely Nijmegen Police Headquarters.

She would like to dedicate these ceilings to women who fall victim of sexual abuse and crimes. They need to be made more comfortable within the police stations and police officers need to be reminded to tread lightly when it comes down to vice.

Sadly today, many vice cases don’t come to a close, mostly through lack of evidence, which is highly unsatisfactory to the victims. Margriet works would lend a sympathetic ear to not be forgotten, but most of all to empower women to take their lives back.

Bridge

One of Margriet’s wildest dream would be to cover the arches of the bridge ‘De Oversteek’ with her work as a tribute to the Waal-river and a love-letter to her hometown Nijmegen.

She would like to draw people in to this perfectly beautiful spot that harbours some special plants.

She dreams of people feeling the urge to walk up there and becoming aware of the beauty that surrounds the place they live in. To be simply happy with what we have and just enjoy the good things of life that are free: the sun and beautiful plants and flowers.

In her mind’s eye Margriet sees people strolling underneath her work on the arches, feeling free, happy and divine.

Chapel

The general idea of this project consists of preferably several chapels for visitors to slow down, relax and dream in; a chapel as an opportunity to reflect and thrive.

Margriet explains that she prefers the idea of God the Mother, the Creator to the general notion of God the Father. In the chapel’s interior Margriet wants to show work of women being celebrated.

The works would pay tribute to women who are being humiliated and harmed and yet keep going, who choose life over survival and who never stop to care, for children, environment, growing food, water, etc. and take full responsibility for the softer powers that be.

The chapels would become spaces of serenity and self-reflection, yet most of all a much-needed place to dream away in, if only for a while.

Two Towers

A dream-project would be to have large buildings, office towers or skyscrapers show Margriet’s work on their outer walls. Preferably the ‘Zuidas’ in Amsterdam and The Hague Central Station.

Why?

To devote attention to women in top jobs and senior positions, to show women wanting to advance their careers is normal. Margriet would like her work to incite people to reflect more on the actual scarcity of women at the top to the effect that women being able to advance their career would be get the opportunity.
