These flower series began in 1999 after a visit to an exhibition of Dutch still lifes at the Rijksmuseum. During the pandemic, a turbulent period of intense reflection and writing unfolded. Writing, painting, and sketching on proofs gradually led to a complete new way of working. These old prints and proofd wanted to come out of the archives and stock room. Dutch Golden Age flower paintings, linked with patriarchal colonial system needs call for a new narrative.
